Japan Airlines will soon put their A350 on a high-profile domestic route. Along with this, Japan Airlines will be unveiling a brand new A350 interior specifically for domestic routes. Let's take a look inside!

The cabin

Japan Airlines unveiled the new cabin pictures on their website. The aircraft is specifically configured for a premium domestic route. Onboard, Japan Airlines will have 12 First Class seats, 94 Business Class seats, and 263 Economy class seats. Here's the seat map:

First Class

Japan Airlines has 12 First Class seats on their A350. These are arranged in a 2-2-2 configuration. For a short-haul domestic route, this should be comfortable and an upgrade compared to other First Class products (especially domestic US First products).

Passengers in First Class will have wide seats and ample privacy. The seat itself is in a bit of a "shell" that keeps you separated. Though not comparable to an Emirates or Lufthansa First Class, this will still make a short-haul domestic hop comfortable and, hopefully, memorable.

Class J

Japan Airlines calls their next class of service "Class J". This is basically business class. In a 2-4-2 configuration, this product looks a fair bit like some outdated business class products and more modern premium economy products.

In a 2-4-2 configuration, this is still relatively tight. However, since you're traveling on a fairly short route, you'll still have a decent experience. If you're a U.S. based traveler, you're probably going to find this comparable, if not better, than an intra-European business class.

Economy Class

Economy Class is in a standard 3-3-3 configuration. With 263 seats, this is one large cabin. However, on a heavily traveled domestic route, Japan Airlines should be able to fill up most of the cabin. That being said, economy class is pretty standard and looks a lot like many other A350 economy classes.

What Japan Airlines did right

Japan Airlines did some amazing things with their A350. First and foremost, while other airlines are ripping them out, Japan Airlines ensured every seat has access to a personal monitor. For more tech-savvy travelers, you'll also have access to PC/USB power and WiFi.

These amenities are sometimes missing from many short-haul flights across the world, so this is a welcome addition from JAL. That being said, this aircraft will be operating some premium domestic routes with a fair bit of competition.

Overall

Japan Airlines will debut this aircraft on their route from Tokyo's Haneda Airport to Fukuoka starting this fall. For those traveling on this aircraft, you'll likely have a great time on a short flight.
